Orthopaedic Centre Expert Witness Assessments

Expert Witness Assessments

Following accidents there can be a need for orthopaedic footwear. When instructed by a solicitor to give a quantum report we can carry out a full assessment of the medical condition and the type and number of shoes or boots required and the associated cost.

Assessments are carried out by our managing director, Peter Schweiger. In 1964 Peter began training in orthopaedic shoemaking, learning his skills from his father. He has been managing director of The Orthopaedic Footwear Company (trading as James Taylor & Son) since 1972.

In May 1976 Peter became a licentate of The Institute of Surgical Technologists (LBIST) and in 1981 he first appeared as an expert witness in The High Court (Maskell v Maskell).

Peter is a member of The Checked and Listed Law Society’s Helpline and database and a member of The Society of Expert Witnesses.

The average number of cases over the last three years, which he has assessed and reported on, is 60.

Peter’s involvement with trade associations includes the following:
Secretary of The West End Master Bootmakers’ Association (1908)
Former secretary of The Foot Health Council
Director of The Honourable Cordwainers Company (USA)
