What's involved in ordering your boots and shoes
You choose the style and leather and then we assess and measure your feet. This is usually done in our shop, however we can sometimes take your measurements from an old pair of shoes (without damaging them). This is useful when it is impractical to visit our shop in London.
A beechwood last is made as a model of your feet. It becomes a permanent record of your foot shape and is stored away making subsequent orders quicker and therefore cheaper. It can be modified as your feet change with time.
Our highly professional well trained staff will craft your shoe, using the finest quality leathers and techniques developed over centuries.
This is also usually done in our shop. We conduct a fitting with the unfinished shoes, to see if any alterations are required in order to make sure the shoes fit perfectly.
The shoes are adjusted so that they fit your feet perfectly. It is not uncommon to have several fittings to ensure the perfect fit.
